Hi,
My son is rubbing his left ear when he going to sleep
May I know the reason.
How old is the child?
Is child old enough to communicate any feelings and discomfort?
It can be a sign of a pain, itching, or has gotten to be a habit.
If he hasn't rubbed it red, then its no big deal.
It sounds like it may be his way of self-soothing. It calms him down and relaxes him for sleep.
Is he due for a check-up and/or vaccinations? If so, at the appointment talk to the doctor/nurse about your concern. They can make certain there isn't anything wrong.
I think its just a habit because I have seen few kids doing that while sleeping. I don't know why they do but it looks like its natural and a habitual thing, just like pouting lips, naturally sleeping with bend knees while sleeping, rubbing eyes etc.
Our daughter used to rub her nose when she was that age. She is now 46, a beautiful woman.
