My husband just started a new job, three months ago. He is a truck driver for the company located in KY, but we live in VA. He drives all over the country. His employer does not pay any taxes, he gives him 1099 instead of W2. So my question is; to which state do we pay taxes?

Agreed; his state tax return would be for Virginia.

However, the federal return requires Form 1040 with Schedule C and Se, because he is considered to be an independent contractor.
