University application form for summer school
On the application form it says you have to declare if you have any of the following, but it includes mental health and also has an example of self- harm and if you currently do it or if you have done it in the past etc. Do I benefit more by telling the truth or is it more of a chance I won't get into the university summer schools? As I'm on anti-depressants and have self-harmed, but haven't since being on medication. Should I be truthful?

    Thank you.

Lying will eventually come back to bite you on the butt. Don't lie. Mention the meds, too. Will there be an entrance interview?

No it just through application form. Don't want to get denied the opportunity because of my health. But thank you it's probably best to tell the truth! As I don't like to lie anyway. But just didn't know if it was a important bit of information needed.

Disclosing such personal information is difficult, and has possible adverse consequences, but so does being dishonest, or deceitful. Personally, I would err on the side of honesty, and take my chances with the truth, especially since your fear of rejection is a factor in your decision making.

The real question is which decision can you live with? Or what's more important, your character, or reputation? One lie, small or large usually leads to another, but the truth stands for itself without fear of discovery, or consequence, because it leads to different option and opportunities, often better than what you originally wanted.

It is your choice how you proceed, so choose carefully.
