So about a week ago I started spotting I guess, it was like light red. It's been like on and off for the passed week. Today it started again but this time it was a dark brown, the amount of it seems to be increasing. I am only wearing a panty liner so it's not enough to need more but like I said the amount since this morning seems to be increasing. I'm on birth control and have been for about 6-7 months and this has never happened. It kind of seems like my period would be starting if the amount continues to increase. But I'm on the start of the third week of my pills and I usually get it in about a week, so it would be pretty early. My mom called a doctor and he said it was normal, but I didn't tell her it started again today so not sure what to think??

"spotting" is normal and happens. It may not be related, but tell mom and see

The darker color is often older blood, so it likely is left from what you experienced previously. Have you missed any of your pills? That is just one possible reason for some irregular spotting. Even just a slight shift in hormones can be enough sometimes. Are you sexually active? If it continues, and/or you notice any unusual odor, itching, etc., you might want to get checked for a possible infection.
