How to remove old Valley shower faucet handle?
Can't figure out how to remove this faucet handle or cover plate. The faucet handle is labeled Valley. Original faucet from when building was built in 1985. There don't seem to be any set screws. There is one hole in the cover plate below the handle that was covered with its own little cover. There don't seem to be any screws when looking in that hole. Both handle and cover plate are plastic.

    Thank you.

I haven't seen one like that here in Atlanta but I would try to CAREFULLY pry the handle off /OR/ see if the center "hot-cold" plate can be pried off and look for a screw under it. Seeing how it appears plastic, I would try the pry method.

That hole under the handle contains a set screw. Remove with 1/8 Allen wrench.

Clean it up a bit and see what you are dealing with as the only plastic I can see is the handle name plate and years of crud can hide the set screws (they are usually recessed in a small hole). Don't be afraid to play around a little because you are replacing it anyway, right?

Thank you for the responses. I was able to remove the hot/cold plate. Under that there were two screws holding the handle & cover plate in place. Below is a picture of what is behind the plate. Any recommendations on what it is and where to find parts for it. I've looked at all of the Valley parts diagrams and none seem to match this.

You have the new style (after 1993). I have the old

Pull up this web site for pressure balance valve.

Then look at this cartridge and see if yours looks like this
