Since movie titles must be listed as "Godfather, the", "Terminator, the", etc, can/must I write "Clockwork Orange, a"? Seems right to me!?
If I can't, please tell me why! Otherwise, I see no reason why I shouldn't...

Articles (a, an, and the) are not alphabetized.
Articles don't have to be alphabetized unless they are written first. For example A Clockwork Orange, or The Terminator. The use of or type of reference does make a difference in which way is proper. You get to the same place either way, be it at the library, Google, or Netflix.
