    Frozen plumbing pipes
Am about to purchase a short sale home, when we turned on the water the pipes leaked pretty bad through the ceiling in a spot. My question is this, if one spot froze wouldn't most the pipes throughout the rest of the house be frozen also?

Yes, all depending on temperature and air movement. Keep in mind that while sections of pipe may have frozen the pipe may not have burst. The only way to find all of the leaks is to find and fix the first one and then turn the water on and look for more.

And as much as it stinks, that is the most honest way to say it! I have had 2 leaks in cases like this, and in some jobs like this I have had as many as 30-35 breaks in frozen pipes in the house! I opened the walls (stud to stud, joist to joist, or strapping to strapping (as the case may have been) to keep damage low), I removed cabinets, and I removed flooring and finish trim, etc. so you DEFINITELTY need to proceed carefully here!

I hope it is a 2 leaker, for sure, but just in case, please pop back and chat with some of the guys/gals on the page... glad to help, OK?
