    No Water Pressure Switch help
I noticed my water pressure was not as good as it used to be, and that when we used water, I did not hear the switch kick on as it once did, so I went out side and seen that the switch was staying closed, so I turned off the breaker, to see if the switch would kick out and reset its self. Well this is what happened, I hear water draining when I shut it off, so I went in and turned it back on, the switch was still closed, the water started to spit air, and mud, then with a loud pop in the house from the sink, it stopped, and I now have no water at all, the switch still has current, and is closed but not water?

    PLease Help

Not good. It sounds like the well has gone dry or gotten some dirt in it. If the dirt is plugging the screen at the bottom, the pump can't draw water in. Until it pumps enough water in to raise the pressure, the switch will continue to stay on. When you shut the pump off, the water in the lines may have started draining back down because there is dirt in the check valve that usually keeps it from flowing backwards.

The well casing could be going bad, or there may have been a cavity in the rock below the casing with some dirt that just decided to fall out. Likely you will have to pull the pipe, and the pump if it is a submersible one, to see what the problem is. I am not sure what is next. Perhaps clean the screen and just suspend the pump or bottom of the pipe a little higher. Otherwise you may need the help of a well driller.

I don't think the well is dry, however you may be right about the check valve, thingy, I did hear water draing backwards when I shut the pump off. Could it be a hole in the casing, we have had that problem before, and they had to replace the bottom casing, in the well. As far as the mudding water, and time our electric goes out or the switch turned off we get muddy watter for a few hours,I think this is do to sediment in the prssure tank. The strange think is the switch is still closed, but no water, I tried switching the breaker off then back on again nothing.

    Water pump switch
    Hi,
This might be a shot in the dark, but are the contacts on the switch corroded?
If so, the switch is bad, and needs to be replaced.
    Best wishes,

The switch looks like new, contacts all clean, and straight, everything there looks good.

Talked to our well guy today, he said that the water is draining back into the well, because of hole in casing, and that's why the points were staying on, that we will be lucky if it did not burn up the pump. It don't think we have since today when I flicked the breaker on, I got air, and a stream of water less than a pen, he says with the hole in the casing the pump can't pump more than a pen size flow do to the casing lossing pressure and water out the hole

    $120.00 labor
$1.91 foot for casing, how ever much is needed.

The pump not being able to pump due to a hole in the casing doesn't sound right to me. I can see a hole in the casing letting dirt in and the dirt causing just the problems you are having. I am guessing the well could be anywhere from 40 to 140 feet deep, a chunk of money at $1.91 a foot. $120 labor sound cheap. I am afraid you don't have much choice except to go with it.

After you are all finished, I could see flushing your pressure tank and hot water heater to get rid of mud and other crud.
