How do I turn off my bathtub conversion that has no shower?
My bathtub has the conversion stuck in the on or "shower position but there is no shower. By it being stuck in that position,no water is allowed flow threw the faucet. How do I turn that OFF!?

Is diverter valve (the thing that turns the shower on) on the spout or the wall?

Yes, I think I know what you are talking about. Somebody installed your tub/shower faucet, plugged shower outlet and used only tub outlet. However, he plugged the shower outlet with short piece of pipe, not a plug. Now what happens, if you accidentally switch to "shower", the small piece of plugged pipe will pressurize, and that pressure will lock diverter knob.

Is the diverter on the spout or on the wall ?

    Back to you

Once you shut off the water the mixing valve should draw down and pressure and the lever should be able to be switched back to the tub. It may take a minute or two for the pressure to drop

Ballengerb1: That doesn't always happen. Especially, when the diverter seals well. Last time it happened to me, I had to turn off water, remove trim, remove cartridge and that release the diverter.

If the diverter is on top of tub spout then I would remove "O" ring from the diverter to preventing it from locking again.

I would think opening the sink mixing valve after shutting down the main would allow the diverter to disengage.
