    water pipes vibrate and rattle
Hi,every time our next door neighbors retic comes on our water pipes vibrate and rattle to the point it sounds like a helicopter hovering above our house. What could this be? Is it our problem or theirs. Thanks

What pray tell is a "retic". Do you share a common water supply? Separate pressure reducing valve?

Retic is the lawn sprinklers. Yes we share the same water main. I'm not sure about the pressure thing

Assuming that the sprinkler heads are the pulsating type. These type of sprinkler heads operate by rapidly starting and stopping the flow of water. This rapid starting and stopping of the water flow sets a vibration in the pipes. This causes the pipes to bang against the structural members to which it is attached. Suggest you ask the neighbor to install an expansion tank on the water line to the sprinkler system. An expansion tank is just an empty tank filled with air. You cannot compress water but you can compress air. It should act just like the shock absorbers on your car and minimize or eliminate the vibration in the pipes caused by the rapid starting and stopping of the water flow.

If you share 1 line coming in and then split to two, you may have a pressure releasing valve. When they go bad, they howl and vibrate . If your neighbors is bad, that could also be the issue.

Sometimes pressure is not cause of vibrating of your pipes. I have the same problem and my cause is air bubbles. I installed air eliminator and that set, no noiseor vibrating.Attachment 46940
