    Deferred felony
Hello, I am trying to start my career in the medical field, as a nurses aid, but I have a
Deferred felony. This has been recent and I will be on probation for the next 3 years.
Should I take the chance and go to school or should I start my own business.

    Thank you

I would say start your own thing but I am not sure exactly what a deff fellony is. But it is always great to work for yourself.

Whether you can work in a healthcare related field depends on the laws in the state where you want to work and what your deferred felony is about. I too, do not know what a deferred felony is where it was given to you. And, any type of deferred adjudication can have different consequences, also depending on the state where you want to work.

It would help to know where you live and the state where you want to work.

You might want to check out the following link. One of the answers concerns being able to work in the healthcare or social service profession. I hope that it is helpful to you.

I will agree, each state has wording for varoius laws, so I also don't know what your conviction was.

But I do know that there are many restrictions on people with felony records in the medical field. You will want to talk to the people involved with hiring you the nurse aid field and see what they have to say

    Hola, Lupe:

Pretty big questions that really don't have any thing to do with your felony. If you have a business that's going to make you money, from my point of view, that would be the way to go. If you don't, school would be good.

However, if what you really want to know, is can a felon be licensed as a nurses aid in your state, that's something you can determine RIGHT NOW with just a few phone calls.

A deffered felony is something that upon your good behavior for whatever period the court states, in your case three years, the felony is taken off your record. This means that the public is unable to see the conviction, allwoing you to get into medical school. BUT if you are panning to work in the medical field for the Government, whether its State or Federal, you will ba asked about this charge. I hope this answers your question. I would not apply to medical school, until your term is finished, and its off your record.
