Replacing bathtub. Old one is removed already. I need to know if you install the green board drywall before or after installing the new tub.

Don't use regualr white or gray sheetrock... you WILL be sorry. You can use greenboard.. but I believe on overkill and preffer to use Cement board or Hardyboard.

Even I know this. The greenwall is installed, because it is the waterproofing

tickle.. true enough. Yet you would be surprised at the number of times I've seen or been asked to look at or help fix tile in a bathroom that was slapped on over regular Sheetrock in the shower/bathtub area. And that's not even my line of work. Probably installed by people that knew it would be years before what they did to save a small amount of money would ever be discovered and they would be long gone. Because it did exist, and I find it hard to believe the people that did it didn't know better.

You install the drywall AFTER the tub has been installed and properly secured to the wood studs of the wall. If you are installing a tub surround and the manufacturer calls for drywall then a green board or no mold water-resistant wall board should be installed so it is about 1/2 inch above the tub... fill the void between the drywall and the tub with silicone caulking (prevents wicking of water up the drywall). If you are installing tile, then a cement board material is the only wall board to use! Back to you.

Tub installs against rough framing. Moisture barrier goes over the studs and over the lip of the tub. Green board installs over the Moisture barrier and over the lip of the tub. Use galvanized or zink coated screws. Apply self-stick mesh type tape over all joints and corners.
