I was charge with theft under $5000 today, I was with my infant... this is my 1st offence..
Now the police gave me a ticket with 2 date on it... he said one is for the finger print, one is the court date...
So, am I going to Jail? Am I getting on record for life?Should I hire a lawyer?
I am so scare now... what should I do,. please help!

Were you scared when you were stealing? I will assume this is not the first time you stole, just the first time you got caught.

No... this is my only time... was a stupid mistake I ever did in my life...
I was scare when I was stealing... I always feel everyone are looking at me

You will have a record of some sort, but most likely not jail. However, if you get caught again, you will most likely experience "life inside". You may have a hard time getting a job handling money, even at McDonalds!

Will they come take my kid away from me? 100% will never ever happen again... should I hire a lawyer?
