Dual owners/One name on deed
If you have two 'owners' who paid for the home, are paying for the mortgage equally, but only one name is on the mortgage and they break up -- what happens? There is a paper trail with the mortgage payments, the mortgage origination payments, etc... and all the improvements on the house. This was done to avoid paying out money to a former wife in a divorce proceeding. Now, the boyfriend is splitting from the girlfriend and she wants it all. Her name is the only one on the deed and although there is a papertrail with his name, she says she can get it all even though she only makes $9 per hour as a bus driver and they live in a $600,000 house that he mostly (and can prove) paid for. Please help. (no I am not the new girlfriend, I am the sister in law). Thanks everyone. :confused:
