Most of the tests, even dollar store ones, are reliable, but they will vary a bit in their sensitivity. It is also important to make sure that the tests have not gone passed their expiration date.

Are your periods normally pretty regular, or have you skipped some before? If being irregular is not the norm, and since two have now gone by that would not be normal, you may want to just see your doctor or a walk-in clinic for a test there. Or you could buy a different brand home test and try again.

If you aren't pregnant, and your periods normally are regular, you'd want to have the doctor check anyway to see if a cause could be determined.
