OK, with my therm on its lowest value and turned off, my gas value off and my roll over switch reset as instructed, I am ready to turn my heat back on. With the gas value on and my therm. On and set about 5 degrees higher than the home room temp. my burners
ignite. I have heat for about 5 minutes and then the system shuts down. It try unsuccessfully 3 times to ignite but with failure. I have cleaned the flame sensor with no
success as I go through this process over and over. Every 5 minutes or so the burners
shut down, not 5 to 10 to 20 seconds but about every 5 minutes I have burner failure.
The led light offers me one flash. I have reviewed all duct work and air flow for the inducer and have no blockage. I have reviewed and read some much on the internet but have yet to find anyone with these Goodman gas furnace failure symptoms. Please help, its getting colder and colder. Be blessed

Are the flames " dancing" or are they steady?

The flames are very very contolled, pretty, no roll-over at all. I decided to by -pass the roll-over switch and I had no tripping anywhere else. I let the furnace burn for at least 10-12 minutes and figured my first attempt at a repair is to replace the flame roll-over switch.. . $9.63 part. Please advz. Thanks you.

The roll out switch should have a manual reset. Did you reset it?

Yes, each time the burners would shut down after about 5 min. I would have to reset the Roll-Over Switch. My new Roll-Over Switch arrived this morning and I will install after work. I will update with status. Any further suggestions or help at this point is

No luck with the new Roll-Over Switch. Could it be a bad Aux Limit Switch? If by passing the R.O.S. did not cause any other tripping, then it would not be the Aux Limit Switch going bad would it? Otherwise the A.L.S. would have tripped even with the R.O.S. being by passed. Please advz and again thank you.

I just took the A. Limit Switch out and put a meter on the it and I received a full signal.
Gosh, what next? I will look at the Heat Exchanger and see it it needs any cleaning etc.
Any suggestions?

I decided to by-pass the Aux Limit Switch with the new Roll Over Switch in place and the furnace shut down right at 5 minutes. And just to make sure I stay focused I by-passed the new Roll-Over Switch and the furnace remained running so I turned it off after 12 minutes or so and I guess I will look, as previously mentioned, at the heat exchange for uncleanness.?????

I think what's happening is the metal around the ROS is slowly heating up and tripping the switch. This would indicate a venting problem or combustion blower problem.

O.k. what do I look for or what would be my next move to correct this problem? Combustion blower problem? What is the repair? Or what do I look for
To fix this problem? Again would a dirty heat exchanger or problem here cause the tripping of the roll-out switch? As previously mention, the flames coming out of the burners are pretty compared to some I've see on line that are in fact rolling out. As far as I can reason any blockage passed the flames burning
Would cause a roll-out? So with your consideration, it is not so much a roll-out flame that is causing the tripping , but heat that is probbably causing the tripping? What is my next move?

I found your unit and you have a packaged unit. That's good, it will be easy to inspect the exhaust and inlet vent, which are on the right side of the unit. Make sure there are no blockages.

I previously checked this vent and any obstructions in this area. Everything looks o.k.. I hired a rep to come out and look at my furnace and after close examination looking at everything I had done etc.. And looking into the heat exchanger area he found on visual what looked like a o.k. exchanger. He said he was looking for any exterior holes, heavy rust and the like and found nothing. However at the end of his visit he said that the exchanger must have some kind of blockage or obstruction in its path to be causing the roll-out to trip. He said, it is the only possible explanation. I or we both notice that right as the burners ignite their appears to be a, very quick combustion of gases that roll-out fast but then everything else goes back to normal so quick you might miss it even happening. One might even consider it insignificant. Then 5 minutes later the roll-out trips. Any way my next consideration was to clean the exchanger as opposed to buy a new one installed at $800 quoted. Especially if the exchanger has no visible holes or cracks.? Your views are appreciated.

Did he test the vacuum pressure on the combustion blower? Yea I would clean the HX.

After doing so much research and study with regard to this roll-out problem and learning so much about this Goodman gas furnace I decided to take it apart and learn. Concluding that I probably have a heat exchanger problem with regard to flame roll-out I performed a closer look and there it was, a thumb tack size hole and crack that could not be seen without taking the heat exchanger completely out and might have even been missed without having a small hand held dental type mirror. Anyway, I found my heat exchanger in town for $221 and will attempt to install it myself tomorrow. I am humble and will seek God's help to restore heat back to my families home. I have learned with regard to flame roll-out and doing lots of research, that those who are having similar problems that I have had will find that about 90%-95% of the time your problem is going to with the heat exchanger, especially if your unit is 8 plus years old. Most likely a heat exchanger replacement is needed.

Happy to say my gas furnace is working better than ever. With the installation of my new heat exchanger and the relining of new reflective heat insulation (outside unit) in my gas furnace I have new warmth and smiling faces in my home.
