Water not moving past main water valve to my house
My water heater went out at my house and the valve was corroded so we had to shut it off by the main valve by the street. Its been a few months that the house had been sitting without water but now I have a new water heater and tried to turn the water back on. But the water is not moving past the main valve. What should I do next?

The valve is probably an older style type of GATE VALVE and the stem of the valve has sheared off. You should contact your local water department and see what they require of you and your plumber. Most likely, they'll need to shut the water off to the property and then a plumber will need to install a new shutoff.
