Firstly, visit http://www.michaelhorowitz.com/index.htm and at the bottom of the page, you will see the writings heading. Click on the link entitled 'A comparison of Linux and Windows'.

As for Linux not being widely used, you are totally misinformed. The Linux community is 'huge' worldwide.Check out the many forums on the net.Dont think there is just a Windows exclusive world out there!! What next.A stab in the back for Steve Jobs!
    Have a nice day :D

How Microsoft's misunderstanding of open source hurts us all-by Robert X.Cringely. http://www.pbs.org/cringely/pulpit/pulpit20031023.html Read how in the author's opinion,Microsoft have'nt a 'clue' when it comes to OS like Linux,in all it's variations.

I visit with people all over the world on the net, have many friends in other countries, work in a computer store here, had 4 years in college taking computer courses and have met maybe 1 percent of those people using Linux, so in my opinion and experience, it's not, less say as widely used as Windows.

You make a list of the Computer users you know, how many use Linux, everyone else do the same, what is the percentages.

    Point made.

In the business world Linux is very widely used for servers etc. Most web servers are also on Linux boxes I think. As for home use, Windows does win hands down. But if there was some way of getting my favourite games onto Linux, I would switch at the drop of a hat.

As for the question in hand, check the manufactorer's page for drivers. Some manufactorers do provide Linux drivers etc.

    If you
    Code:

    tail -f /var/log/messages
    tail -f /var/log/syslog

    When you
    Code:

    modprobe saa7134
It should print at least a few interesting messages.
Post them, I will give this a shot...

    Also post the output of
    Code:

    lspci -v

No, you don't. I'd like to see you post a configuration question on the linux kernel development list. Go ahead.

What you do is ask on one of the linux communities that supposedly don't exist.

Oh, and by the way, I hope no one here is using one of the new Linksys "blue box" router/switches, because, guess what, they are powered by nonexistant software...

And there are many people, including myself, who happily run linux on their desktops. And yes, Unreal Tournament runs just fine.
