I put bleach in my well now my pressure switch won't shut off
Well water had bacteria so I put bleach in the well, and a day later my pump won't shut off, checked the bladder it's fine thought the pressure switch might be bad put a new one on, still won't shut off. I have a goulds pump in the cellar.

Are you pumping water when pump is running?

What kind of well? Did you have to disconnect any piping to put bleach in the well or did you just pour it down the casing.

Getting Plenty of water, it's a dug well so just poured it into well. Pump is in the cellar checked the bladder it's fine pressure gets to about 49 and it's a 30-50 pressure switch. Wondering if maybe a loosened some dirt.

Everything seems fine other than it won't shut off.

Is pressure switch on the well pipe or tank. If pressure switch in on the well pipe remove the switch and make sure the pipe nipple, (usually 1/2' or 1/4 nipple) is not clogged. If switch is on the tank and uses a small 1/4" or 1/8" copper tube, remove and insure that it is not clogged.

Just bad timing and not related to chlorinating the well.

That would explain why the pump is not cutting off. For the short term, lower the cut off pressure to 45# by turning the large center nut of the switch counter clockwise. Try a full turn and see if that does it. It's a little bit trial and error.

When you say you "checked the bladder", how did you do that?
