    Fuel pump intermittent
I own a 1992 honda civic lx manual shift. My fuel pump is intermittent during startup. When the engine is running there is no problem, it runs fine. This problem seems worse on low atmospheric days (cloudy). At times, when I go to start the engine, I have to let the car sit (up to 5 minutes) with the ignition switch on; then the fuel pump comes on and the engine starts. I have replaced the fuel pump and fuel relay and still have the problem. There is 312,000 miles on the car. Thanks for any advice on what I can do to fix the problem

Most of these situations are tied to intermittent ECM failure. Does the CEL consistently come on for 2 seconds and then go out, when the ignition switch is turned to ON (Position II)? I suspect you don't hear the fuel pump run, when the CEL stays on--likely when you have to let the car sit for 5 minutes. Replacing the ECM should solve your problem--get an exact Honda part no. match.

I have yet to see a Honda fuel pump fail.
