Why do I have 2 hot wires coming out of my thermostat?
I have 2 heat (w) coming out of my thermostat and I only have a 2 wire new thermostat but my old one has 4 wires. Problem is I have 2 hot wires for some reason and if you try to splice to one it arcs very bad!!

Do you know anything about your heating system? If it arcs"very bad" as you say, it could be a line voltage system. What type of heat do you have? Are you experienced with thermostat replacement? Doing the wrong thing can cause damage to the equipment, injure you or cause property damage. Asking here is fine, but you need someone there on site to take care of this.
