Need to file CA state tax?
    Hi,

I lived in CA from 2002 to 2005 and I moved to TX on August 03, 2005.

In 2006, I had my CA driver license from January to around June and switched to my TX driver license. In the whole year of 2006, I did not leave Texas.

I had my CA driver license for a couple months but I did not make any income in CA (I made income in TX). In this case, although I am sure that I do not need to pay any CA state tax, do I still need to file my CA state income tax for 2006 because of my CA driver license?

Looking forward to hear from you. Thank you!

No, you do NOT have to file a CA tax return because you had a CA driver's license.

You need to file a CA tax return ONLY IF you earned income while in California.
