    ETG 48 hrs last drink
Hi. I know I should have not done this but had 9 glasses of white wine between 3-8pm on Saturday and have to test Monday at 8pm. Female, healthy, no alcohol prior 2 months. 5 feet 9 inches, 145lbs. Also have had 2 gallons of water today and yesterday and a pot of coffee and 8 diet coke cans. Since EtG is water soluble is there a chance I will pass?

Nope. You've over hydrated yourself which means that the you'll have a lot of water in your urine which will lessen the amounts of ETG/ETS in your urine to possibly lower than the cut off. The only problem is that you've also lowered the amounts of EVERYTHING ELSE in your urine. Which means that they'll assume that you've got something to hide and this is a sign of a very guilty conscious. They'll fail you for dilution.

You shouldn't have done this and you thought you would have gotten away with it too. You're going to have to pay the piper for this one. Hopefully you'll learn that when you're prohibited from drinking that means no drinking. Just say no, or "Ice Tea, I am the designated driver", or Virgin Rum & Coke.

You honestly have no one to blame but yourself.

48 hours with that much wine is probably a fail. What are the consequences? Tough way to find out!

Even if I stop drinking fluids 2-3 hrs prior?

Even if you stop drinking. You've screwed the pooch here.

I've read plenty of stories of people passing with similar circumstance. Why do you say I've screwed the pooch? Thank you

It means the chemistry of your urine is not going to correct itself in time. Meaning the damage is already done. If it Look s like a cheating attempt... they automatically treat it as such and fail you.

Its 3pm here. Is 5 hrs enough time to "correct" my urine profile?

I'm pretty sure I've flushed the ETG via diauresis past 48 hrs. My question now, is if I lay off the fluids for 5 hrs will my urine resort back to normal?

Unlikely.. it takes days usually for everything to come back into balance.

I can't imagine a good result no matter what the outcome... but I am curious to hear what happened? That is an awful lot of liquid to consume prior to testing. A lot. And 9 glasses of wine... unless they are really small glasses (4 ozs each) is a lot to try and pass 48 hours later... I tend to drink a LOT of coffee... all day, every day. I UA tested for ETG 3x/week for 6 months, never a problem. One day, I decided to mix it up and drink about 8 - 10 ozs of water with my lunch at 2:00pm and I tested at 6:00pm. I tested diluted. Ever since then, I continued to drink my coffee, but by 2 or 3 pm, would slow way, way down, only taking sips until I tested at 6pm and never had another dilute, but I believe some were close.

The problem is that, while the circumstances might be similar they're not the same. I will mention that you're under an alcohol prohibition so by drinking and trying to beat the test you're setting yourself up for failure because there will be a time where your luck runs out.

To get your question: Why did I say that you've screwed the pooch?
1). 9+ standard drinks 48ish hours before a ETG test (Possibly 22 hours depending on which post of yours you read). This could take more than the 60 -80 hours to eliminate because this is a HUGE BINGE. On top of that you've not eliminated the ETG/ETS from your system, you've just diluted it in your bladder so that when you test the amount will be less.
2). You've drank 7.6L of water, 1.2L of Coffee, 2.8L of pop. That comes to over 10L in two days. You'll fail for dilution because you're going to be pissing clear.
3). 5 hours isn't enough time to correct the mineral balance in your urine. If it was then you would test positive because of the ETG/ETS in your system. Catch 22 eh?

So... regardless of what you do or did, you'll probably fail. You played Russian roulette with a pistol with a magazine and you lost.

By drinking so much water you have changed the specific gravity of your urine. This can take days to get back to a normal range.

Well, based upon your question asked in July 2012, where you drank about 57 oz of wine in a 12 hour period, then tested 47 1/2 hours later and passed, I guess that you may have a chance...
