    Motor running hot
My GE motor model number 5kc38sn2535dx went out after the last rain storm. Motor was not turning on. Tried breaker, the breaker was flipped. Tried flipping it back on but it popped. Took back cover off motor and replaced wiring then flipped breaker on. I turned motor on could tell it was not running the way it should be and the motor ran very hot. Can you help? Thank you.

Is there a start capacitor? They are susceptible to power surges and will burn out.

What is the motor for? How long is the wiring run? The more information you can give will increase the chances of getting the right information to you. Does the motor get how when not under a load? Does it operate a pump that could be tight and creating strain on the motor? Do you have access to an ammeter to see if the motor is running to specs?
