I tried to fix a dripping faucet by replacing the spindle on symmons model b whoever after installing all of a sudden the hot/cold water is messed up and it appears the cold seat has latched onto the spindle. I couldn't remove it from the spindle so I ended up getting a whole new hot/cold seat replacement and installed just the cold seat with the spindle. The old hot seat is still in there. I do not have the TA-35A/B toolkit.

When I have the water mains running through the pipes, even when tap is closed I get just hot water. I am very confused.

I think you are confusing the collar that holds the cold washer onto the spindle for the cold seat as there is no way that the cold washer of the spindle could attach onto the cold seat... just not possible, so please explain again, exactly what was removed and what you have done and I am sure we can help here.

I have attached a picture of the Symmons hot and cold seats so you are clear on exactly what they look like (the larger one is the cold seat).

Thanks Mark. It was indeed the cold seat. For some strange reason it was stuck to the spindle. As pictured the hotseat was in its place however the cold seat had loosed and latched unto the spindle (yes - weird). I was able to resolve the issue. I ended purchasing a new hot/cold seat and replaced the old ones using the hot/cold seat (TA-35A/B replacement kit. Once those two were properly tightened all was functioning as expected. I was able to do between the time I asked the question. :-). Thanks anyway.

It may have been stuck, but a screwdriver should have been all that was needed to loosen the cold seat from the rubber washer and metal collar.

Thanks! Yes, I tried (to save money) however it seemed REALLY stuck. I tried using the screwdriver - ended up damaging the cold seat. The threads have been damaged. Thanks again. Here is a video documenting what I did.
