    Lower Abdominal Pain
I have had lower abdominal pain for about 3 weeks now. When I was at my last doctors appointment I mentioned it her and she wanted a urine culture/urine analysis. So, I had that done. It came back normal. However, I was then given an antibiotic it seemed to help a little but then I started getting the same symptoms again. She prescribed me another antibiotic to take 3 times a day, however, it is very hard to take it three times with my work schedule so most days it didn't happen at all and others only 2 times. However, I think I am getting ready to start my cycle and again I didn't really have any signs or symptoms.. I just noticed a brown discharge. I am still having the lower abdominal pain. Is this normal even after a second antibiotic? Any ideas on what this could be? I don't want to see a gynecologist because of this pain and it hurts when they perform a papsmear?

Antibiotics should be taken the same time every day, and full dosage taken to the last one, or prescription will not be effective. As you are finding out.

No it isn't normal because you did not take antibiotic as prescribed. Sorry can't diagnose on line and Pap smears are necessary.

You didn't take the antibiotic as prescribed. Three times per day, which means every 8 hours. It's not hard to do that at work. To take it effectively you take it every 8 hours. It's not hard to swallow a pill at work.

Antibiotics are not a cure-all (and shouldn't be taken if you don't need them, but that's for a GOOD doctor to determine)! A pap smear shouldn't hurt. Go back to the GYN and be very clear about symptoms and what hurts. Write them down in list form if you think that will help get it all across.
