How do I know if the capacitor is bad and not the fan motor
The fan motor is humming, hot and not running on my Bryant ac unit. I see on this site that the capacitor could be the problem too. How do I know which one it is?

    Thanks

The only way to tell for sure is to test the motor and cap with a multimeter. Or replace the cap first and see what happens.

Capacitor is the easy way to see, $10 or less for most of them.
