Pond Flooded and pump stopped working.
    Hi,
My 1000 gal pond flooded and flowed into the pump box. It was still running when I shut off the water but then quit. With the previous pump before and this it happened several times and it just took about a day or so of air drying, out (I can only assume as I did nothing to it), and it worked great. We just replaced this pump about a month ago and someone turned on the water and forgot it and again the pond flooded. It has been 3 days now and it isn't working and I am getting concerned. I put a house fan on it all day yesterday but the GFI breaker still trips. The power source is fine as that is how I plugged in the fan. It is a Premier pond pump that flows about 42,000 gpm.

    Thanks,
    Teri, Vancouver WA

42,000 GPM? No way. Fire pumps don't flow that fast.

Maybe it was 4200, it was 42 something... Ha!

The windings are probably wet. However, most pond pumps are designed to be under the water. Is this a pond pump or a pool pump, they are different.

This is an external pond pump, Premier brand. It pumps 4200 gals per hour.

I just removed the pump and plugged it into a non GFI circuit and it works fine. But doesn't work with the GFI. Why? Is the pump ruined?
