I have been bleeding from my backside (recum) for about a week and a half. Bright red blood and enough to fill the toilet up. This happens no matter if I am having a bowel movement or not. It seems to have slowed down however now I am in pain and nauseas. No fever. I have taken antibiotics and used hemmoroid meds. i had a hystercomy in 07 so it is not from there. Should I go to the er or just wait it out?

Anytime you're bleeding from some place that you shouldn't be than you should go to the ER.

Please go to the ER.

You have some type of lower GI bleed or severe hemorrhoids. They will probably give you a colonoscopy to see where the bleeding is coming from. If you are too anemic they may feel you need blood. At any rate get to the ER ASAP even if it has stopped.
