Need more details, like the brand and the model number, does the pilot lit and quit on you, if the pilot lit and quit your thermocouple is bad needs to be replaced, good luck.

Hi Teresa, Like John suggested, more info is better. If this is a newer water heater it could be the intake screen is dirty and putting out the flame. If you post make a model you will get a better answer. Good luck
