Well first of all thanks for allowing me to post this message,

Recently went on vacation and came back, the following day my water heater was leaking. I performed a drain then it wouldn't fill, and now no pressure comes up to my showers. Everything else works only on cold water I also noticed that the valve for the cold water line to the heater is turning and it never stops. I removed the valve and noticed that water is trying to go into the water heater but only trickles, same as my showers.
Can anyone help me with this issues that I have.

Show a picture of that valve. It is probably a gate valve and the stem has separated from the gate. I assume you turned it off trying to find or fix the leak.

I assume that means you removed the piping after the valve.

Did you find and fix the leak?

The shower valve mixes hot and cold water to give you the perfect temperature shower water, some shower valves have pressure balancing cartridges installed if you lose hot or cold water to the valve you will not get water to the shower, please tell us the name and the brand of your shower valve, Thanks.

If the image you sent on your PM to me is the stop valve to the water heater, it looks like a gate valve. I can't be sure because the image is so small.

Am I correct in assuming that means you disconnected the piping to the water heater after the stop valve?

Is the stop valve to water heater shaped like the one below?

I haven't disconnected yet, I closed the cold water from filling the tank, then when I went to refill it would just drip drip drip, takes a long time to fill and no water pressure to my shower heads. I get water everywhere else in the house but that. Oh also the dishwashing machine

If you are getting cold and hot water everywhere in the house but no water in to the shower it looks like you have debris in the shower valve, shut the water to the house remove the cartridge turn the water for a few second to flush out the debris out and shut the water, now clean the cartridge and install see if it works now, if not you need to replace the cartridge, FYI Moen parts are life time warranty call them at 800-289-6636 and they will send new cartridge for free, good luck.

Sorry john the phone sent by accident all I get is cold around the house, when I open hot nothing.

Ok now you have problem with your inlet water supply to the water heater, you may have a bad shutoff valve to the water heater, connect a garden hose to the water heater drain valve and open the valve see if you get water coming out if you do your problem is with hot side nipple if not the problem is with you cold supply line shut off valve.

Cut off the cold water shut off into the water heater and replace it with a new sharkbite push on shut off valve and a sharkbite coupling and get your water back up and running! Sharkbite fittings simply push on to install properly. Sharkbite fittings are available at any home depot store.

If that fails to fix it then the cold water nipple into the water heater may be clogged up...cut pipe, remove adapter and clean nipple...reconnect everything and use a sharkbite coupling to connect all back together.

*NOTE* Sharkbite fittings should not be installed any closer than 12" to the water heater as water heaters can rarely overheat and that could cause problems with neoprene seals inside the fittings. Just FYI!
