Is there something wrong with my menstrual cycle?!
Okay so I'm 13 years old, going into grade 9 this September and last year right before school started, in August I started my period for the first time, I was on it for 8 days. I only started my second period this summer, a year later. I'm on it right now and I'm on my eleventh day and it hasn't slowed down at all. What do I do?! What's wrong with me?!

You need to tell your parents and get them to take you to a doctor.

    Hi erica,

There is likely nothing wrong with you, but do let your parents know. It is not uncommon for periods to be irregular when they first start, and this may last for the first few years for some people. As you have experienced with first starting last year and the next one not until this summer.

Not only can the length of time between periods vary, so too can the amount of bleeding and the number of days that it lasts.

I feel you. When I first started my period I got it every month, but it was 8 or 9 days long every time, heavy bleeding, heavy cramps. It sucked!

As I got older my periods evened out, got them every month, 4 days long, and the cramping slowed down, but not until I was in my early 20's.

I would tell your mom about this, get her to take you into the doctor. Having a period for 11 days shouldn't happen. There are medications that can even things out a bit. :)
