I own a 1999 Craftsman mower with a 15.5 Kohler engine. The engine runs fine but recently I started having a problem. As I said the engine runs fine but the problem is after I've been mowing for a while and the engine is hot if I shut the engine off it will not restart until it cools off. After it cools down it restarts fine and runs until I shut it down. It never just quits on me it's only after I shut it down that I have this problem. Any ideas anyone?

It would be a good guess that the ignition is slowly failing. By way of explanation, the engine is air-cooled and whild running it is blowing air across the cylinder fins/head to cool it. Once it is shut down, that air is no longer flowing and the heat is rising from the cylinder and heating the ignition which rests directly above it. Heat is the enemy of the ignition and given enough time I would say it will start exhibiting more common symptoms of a failure.
