I have a plug end cord that ends in a black and a white wire. It must be joined to a submersible pump whose cord ends in blue and red. What colors get connected to each other?

What is pump voltage- 120 or 240VAC?

I think that ma0641 is on the right track... or it could possibly be a 12V pump of the backup variety.
