    Light/fan bathroom switch
I have 2 black wires, 2 white and 1 copper wire coming to a dual switch in the bathroom. 1 switch controls the light and 1 controls the exhaust fan. The switch broke and I bought another one. I put the wires just like they were on the old switch but now both switches do the same thing. The light and fan run together. How do I wire it for 1 switch to control the light and 1 to control the fan?

Check to see if there is a connecting tab at the wire on the black (hot) side connections. If so, make sure the tab is broken off.
