I have a 1996 Mazda protégé. I was driving one day when I went to slow down it started shaking and cut off. We had to tap the fuel pump to get it to crank so I was told I needed a new fuel pump. We replaced the fuel pump but it cranks then shakes and cuts off. The only way it'll stay on is if I hold the gas until the car warms up. Please help!

1. Change the fuel filter, if it hasn't been changed in 25,000 miles. This could easily be the problem.

2. If the problem persists, clean the Idle Air Control Valve (IACV), throttle plate, and throttle body. Replace the PCV Valve and PCV Valve hoses. Afterwards, check for any vacuum leaks.
