    Hi
My daughter drop her two children (12 and 16) at my door(I am the grandmother) and has block all calls from her children and all her family members. I do know where she works but I am afraid that she will change jobs before I can do anything. She has a good job and can afford to take care of them financially I can not afford a lawyer. I have no papers on the children and school will be starting soon. Please help, I don't know what to do next. I live in TX.

Try calling your local senior services in your area and ask them about a possible pro bono lawyer or you may have to turn them in to child services. If the mother doesnt give you temporary custody then you will have to go to court at some point to receive it. Once approved by the courts then the parents can be contacted for child support. Where is the father/s of the children ?

Child abandonment is not something you hire a private lawyer for. You call the police and they will pursue the matter. Or call child protective services.

You don't file for child abandonment, nor is this something you call the police about. Criminal abandonment is when a parent leaves a child without adult supervision. Clearly that did not happen here.

If you want to care for the children, then you will need to go to court to be appointed guardian. That's what you file for. You can use abandonment as grounds for gaining guardianship/custody. And you can apply for child support from the mother. If she does have a good job the lawyer may get his payment from her.
