Depending on year, the Ignition Control Module (ICM) may be bad.

Since it was likely made in 2002, it likely does not have an ICM. Instead, I would:

    . Check for codes.

. Check all under hood and under dash fuses with a test light or multi-meter.

. Ensure the Check Engine Light comes on for 2 seconds and then goes out, when the ignition switch is turned to ON.

. Check/replace the Crankshaft Position Sensor--ensure wire and connector are good.

. Check the ignition switch for wear, pitting, or melting.

. Check the Neutral Safety Switch.

. Verify that the security system is not preventing the engine from starting.

. Remove the spark plugs and allow everything to dry out. Replace plugs with the exact same plugs that originally came in the car, if they are more than 3 years old.

. Replace spark plug wires, if they have more than 100,000km on them.

If the no-spark situation continues, the spark drivers in the ECM may be bad. I doubt a 2002 Peugeot would have an ICM.

Since the check engine light stays on, check for codes. That should send you in the right direction.

If it is running rough only at idle, focus on the Idle Air Control Valve (IACV), PCV Valve, and PCV hoses (check for any air leaks). If the spark plugs and spark plug wires are old, replace them.

Did you replace the Idle Air Control Valve (IACV), PCV Valve, PCV hoses (check for any air leaks), spark plugs, and spark plug wires?
