Hello, I am asking anyone for help regarding our very smelly dishwasher... the dw is pretty new, and we rarely run it... when the smell becomes unbearably bad, wel will let it run through a cycle, however, it doesn't help the smell and water ends up sitting on the bottom of the dishwasher tub. I do believe the dishwasher is connected to our garbage disposal somehow... please help. Thanks in advance. :)

Is the dishwasher drain connected directly to the disposal or is it connected to an air gap on the sink rim, and from there connected to the disposal? If connected directly to the disposal, is the drain hose attach to the underside of the counter top?

This is the sump and where most bad smells come from.
Sponge the water out of then sump and scrub it out with bleach,( leave a sump full of bleach set for 15 minutes) Mow cycle the dishwasher. Smell better now? Tom
