    Whirlpool with issues
Hi I just bought a house on a private well that has been vacant for about a year. There is a whirlpool tub in the master bathroom and the jets had orange residue in them, so I cleaned it. I filled up the tub about an inch above the jets, poured Clorox Clean up with Bleach in and ran the jets for about 10 min. I have done this now about 10 times and orange brown flakes keep coming out. Do I need new pipes? Or is there something else I can try?

Is there a water softener in your house? If so turn off the two vertical valves and open up the horizontal valve. This will bypass the softener/ Now try flushing out the jets again. You do have some jet action don't you? Let me know. Tom

Yes there is a water softener and yes there is jet action. Can you explain why the water softener would have something to do with it? I just want to know the reason behind all of this in case I have future issues. Thanks!

Did you flush the jets? Did it flush the jets clear of the minerals from the softener? How about the rest of the faucets? Any problems there? I would leave the softener bypassed until a service guy could check it out. Good luck, Tom
