    Restitution
So early in the year I was at my friends house with 4 other friends and of course being a bunch of 15 year olds my friends have an idea to go on a moped and shoot houses with bb guns. I did not go on the moped. A detective found out who we were and ask 3 of us questions. My 2 other friends did not get questioned. The detective calls our parents 3 months later and tells us to pay 800$ restiution and only 4 of us had to pay. So me and my friend that did not shoot have to pay but my other friend does not have to. Please help me . What's should I do. Do I still have to pay?

If there is a court order that you have to pay restitution (in a juvenile delinquency proceeding perhaps), yes, you have to pay.

But not if the detective has simply demanded you pay, without a court order in place.

Its really a matter between your parents and the police, and the property owners.

If your parents don't pay... they can levy charges against you and pursue this in court and you will have a criminal record if that happens. And that will cause you problems for many years, Paying it is in your best interest. I hope you aren't still hanging out with these same people? Next time you might not get so lucky. And with that type...there will be a next time.

Have you parents obtain an attorney and fight it based on the fact that you did not shoot at anything. Of course its certainly possible that one of the others gave you up and named you as one of the shooters. Which means you could lose in court and be worse off then being out $200.
