I am building a deck. what size posts should I use for the vertical posts and how far apart for 8 ft deck.

Most elevated decks today require permits due to deaths from collapsing. Are you getting a permit? If so, they will specify construction details. Height is a major determining factor. 1 ft. or 20 ft. off the ground?
