My dog has a lot of bumps on her. Most are small but two are big. The one I am worried about is a golf ball size, fatty growth. It is very tight to the skin and it recently started to bleed. I think she scraped it when rolling on her side but it is leaking blood and puss now which has me worried. I don't have money 1,000$ to have it removed. ( I already had two fatty growths removed). I didn't have them checked for cancer because what's the point my dog isn't going on chemotherapy and has to many. She is a American Staffordshire terrier, 9 yrs old and eats, plays and is perfectly active/normal. What do you think I should do in the short term? Don't say the vet. Please any help on what you think it is or advice would be great.

What other advice would you think we would give you? Nothing can be done but a vet visit at this point. What you describe points to infection. What do you think ? What other avenue is there?

I am sickened by pet owners such as you. Pet ownership is like having a child. Would you leave your child uncared for. Expecting and being able to care for a pet, is important to ownership.

So you need, in fact, have a duty to care for your animal.

There's no magic cure or home remedy. What could you possibly hope to hear from us? The dog needs a vet.

It's a growth, it's bleeding and , we can't test it for cancer, you're not willing to go to the vet, so what else is there?

You have two options. Find the money to do the right thing and get your dog to the vet so she doesn't have to suffer, or hope for the best, and if she dies, accept your decision.

The pus and bleeding has stopped. I talked to a vet tech from ANOTHER WEBSITE and she told me how to clean it. I used water, soap, Neosporin, and bandaged it. Hey, out of the four of you experts, only TICKLE offered any advice to the situation.

You guys are such experts you should know how to clean a skin growth that ended up getting scraped. Not everyone takes their kid to the ER for a bruise or a fever. I am sickened by people online who think they are so much better then others. You probably never experienced what you are responding to in my question. But, yeah, I'll put my to cents in and tell you you're a bad owner because you won't take him to the vet.

All a vet is going to do is charge 100$ tell me to keep it clean and make sure it doesn't get worse. Well, I got that info for free from a vet tech. If any of you were experts in the animal field I wouldn't be having this conversation. But instead you think your god all mighty and judge other people.

By the way ALTY what is the point of me wanting to know if my 9 yr old dog has cancer? Am I going to give it chemo, am I going to treat my dog any differently? Go judge someone else.

there was a third option CLEAN THE WOUND. Which most pet owners did before they had the option to run to overpriced vets.

There are no vets on this site. There is one vet tech but she's rarely online and did not respond to your question. So you're upset because we've never had to deal with your specific issue and couldn't give advice other than to see your vet?

As to the point of knowing if your dog has cancer, it would be pain management. I'm not saying you would give your 9 year old dog chemo, but surely you wouldn't want your dog to be in constant pain. I would hope that you would treat the dog differently.

Let's hope the vet tech you found on another site, is correct, and all you had to do is clean it. Goodness knows if someone gives you the answer you want to hear online, they must be right. Sigh.

Couple of problems with your rant:
1. Have you seen the vet techs degree to know 100% they are a vet tech. You could have talked to a 13 year old.
2. Did you give this "vet tech" all the symptoms and let her/him listen to lungs, feel the bump did you measure it and take skin scrapings to send to her? Did you describe the color and what the area looks like in detail? See she is only going by what you have told her and you yourself said you THINK your dog scrapped it. You do not even know for sure how it got hurt and started bleeding
3. Everyone else is right and I can say I know how it feels to have huge vet bills. Ask people on here about me crying at the thought of rehoming my dog if he needed the expensive surgery. I thought of my dog first and was prepared to do whatever I had to get him what he needed. I have not paid bills and played catch up, I have borrowed and paid back, I have pawned stuff and I have sold stuff. My pets DO NOT SUFFER because I love them.
4. Alty is right you need to know if it is cancer for pain control as animals hide when they are in pain and ill. They do that so that they are not kicked from the pack (instinct). I had a cat I did not know was in pain from allergies in his eyes. I took him in as he did not look right. I felt like crap until the vet explained that is what animals do. I can understand the choice about no chemo but not the choice about making your loved one comfortable.
