    Building my own Mezzanine bedroom
    Hi There,

I just moved into my small cozy studio of 30m2. It has got high ceilings (3 meter), so to utilise space I was thinking of building a small bedrooom mezzanine. I might just go for a high sleeper but a mezzanine is more elegant. Problem is that the walls are mainly soft plasterboard, so extending out of the wall isn't an option. How could I possibly build a simple mezzanine (shouldn't cost too much, and technically I hope to do it by myself), or isn't it an option. I guess just a wooden frame construction larger than a 2 person high sleeper would be my best bet...

    Thanks in advance.

3 meter high ceilings isn't all that high, if yo have a space under you can stand up in, you won't be able to sit up in bed without hitting your head.

Have you googled "LOFT BED"? That gives you ideas and if you use the space under for a sofa, a desk or something else... having enough height to stand up becomes less of an issue and it can be a little lower to allow you to at least sit up in bed.

You do want to allow youself at least enough space to sit up comfortably in bed.

Right, loft bed is pretty much the same as a high sleeper according to Google. The thing I like about a mezzanine is that it doesn't have the obstructive poles in the middle of the room, but I think anything other than a loft bed isn't an option in my case. Thanks smoothy

If you use the space under it for the right purpose... the poles would be less of an obstruction than they might be if it was used for certain other things.

Like putting your stereo, TV and bookshelves under it, Maybe the sofa, you wouldn't want to put the table you eat on under it. And even worse... using the space for nothing at all. Most wardrobes I've seen in Europe would not fit under it.

I assume you rent, but don't own this property.
