    Installing an American Style Fridge
We have just purchased a new american style SAMSUNG fridge which contains an ice and water outlet on the front.
However the cold water tap behind the fridge/freezer is already being used by the washing machine.

    1. Can we plumb it into the hot water feed tap or will we need to call out a plumber to put in a new cold water feed pipe?

    2. Or could we put a spilter onto the cold water tap so that this tap serves both the washing machine and fridge/freezer.

If point 2. is the solution is this something which is straight forward to do myself or will I need to call a plumber out?

    Regards
    Emma

Although both 1 and 2 will work If I had a choice I would connect the icemaker line to the hot side because **
1- water setting in the hot water tank loses oxygen. Less oxygen in the water will give you a clearer less cloudy ice cube.
2- if using hot water is your concern that be aware that the water in the icemaker line will assume room temperature before it ever reaches the icemaker. This is how we connect our icemakers in the Tampa Bay area. Good luck, Tom

    Hi Emma

You can install it on either hot or cold water supply for washing machine.

If you want to install it on the cold water side you will need a HOSE WYE adapter and then, whether you are using hot or cold supply, you'll want to go to a local plumbing supply store and purchase a HOSE x 1/4" COMPRESSION adapter...see image (You can also purchase online @: Amazon.com: Watts 3/4" x 1/4" Brass Compression x Garden Hose (FIP) Adapter: Home Improvement ). This should be an easy installation...be sure to purchase a 1/4" BRAIDED ice maker supply tube with the adapter...;)

    Back to you...
