    My friends brother abuses her?
I have a friend and her brother hits her. She is around her 30's and her brother is older. Where can I find the law on that or any information. I live in the state of Pennsylvania

It is a crime ), battery, or some other charge, ( different states in the US) but her brother hitting her is no differnet than you hitting her, it is illegal, and she just needs to report him to the poiice.

Fr_Chuck is right. She must go to the police, file a report, and can also file for a PFA which requires her brother to keep a certain distance from her at all times or go to jail for contempt. If you witness this abuse, you can also make a report to the police. There won't be much that gets done if she isn't willing to admit what her brother has done, but maybe if you call the police she will give in and tell the truth.

There is never a need for violence , it is wrong and your friend needs to seek help.

Does she discuss this with you and if so you need to very gently support her into the direction of help.Remember that she is probably scared of any repercussions and needs all the support she can get.

sorry for saying this this way... going to be quick & blunt = myself = I don't give to flying figgs what the damn law is! You don't hit a woman no matter age or anything. Its damn screwed up.
she shouldn't be going through that. Get someone's help! Restraining order something...
    good luck

If your friend doesn't protect herself no one else will... it has to be her wanting help and her to file a restraining order. You are obviously a good friend and trying to help her but allot of people get use to things like this and just accept it for what it is if this is the case try to talk her into getting help.
