My 4 yr old pit bull dog is sick. Won't eat or drink anything.
My 4 yr old pit bull has been vomiting and had diarrhea. He won't eat it drink anything. He will not play, just lays around & looks sad & sick. Hiss eyes are bloodshot. The fact that he won't drink is really worrying me. I won't have money for the vet until next week. What might be wrong w/him & can you tell me what to do until I can get him to the vet?

    Hi mrsmommadoss,

There could be any number of possibilities. I wouldn't wait as he sounds quite poorly. I'd try calling the vet, explain the situation, and see if they would either allow you to come in today and pay next week, or perhaps at least pay a small amount at a visit today and the rest next week.

Is your dog outside and in a neighborhood that may not love your dog as you do?
If this is so, he may have gotten something thrown over the fence that could do him
harm. Best get him to a vet post haste. Anything is possible.

There are too many possibilities. To me it sounds like a blockage, but that's just a guess, and sadly that's all we can do online.

Many vets, especially if you've been with that vet for a long time, will do a payment plan for an emergency. Call your vet and see if they're willing to look at your dog sooner. I fear that if you wait a week, your dog won't make it.

Please let us know how it goes, and I wish you the best of luck.

Thanks everyone. He is actually feeling a little better. I got him 2 go for a walk & drink water. He is still not eating much & we can tell he's not feeling 100% but he is a lot better than he was last night! He is an indoor dog so no-one would have an opportunity 2 give him anything. I never even walk him w/o a leash because he is a very big dog for his breed. I am very worried he may have a blockage and I did call his vet 1st thing this morning also every other vet in my area but they all gave me the same answer, no payment in full, no service. I really have no choice but 2 wait so I'm just watching him very close & praying he is okay until Monday mrng! I am extremely happy he is feeling better today though. I haven't slept since he started showing sign of illness. Please say a little prayer for him that he will be okay at least until Monday morning. Thank you all again.

Very happy he is feeling better. Just a little thing about dogs, we put out some bone meal around some plants in the yard and covered it over with mulch and our dog went directly to the area of the bone meal and started to try to get at the meal. It can get into a dogs stomach and they say it can do great harm. It gets like concrete in the dogs stomach. Just a little extra info.
