My AC stopped cooling condenser, fan, working, what can be wrong, what can ido to fix
My 2010 comfortmaker air conditioner stopped cooling. Checked the compressor, fan, house circuit breakers, all working and clean. The copper tubing coming from the compressor are not cold. Does anyone have any suggestions on what may be wrong and what I can do it to fix it? Does it need a shot of freon and can I do that myself and how. Need Help its HOT

The copper line FROM the compressor should be hot, that is the pressure side. No you cannot install your own Freon unless you have a supply. HVAC supplied will not see it to you. How did you test compressor? Is it running? Is the air handler running? Coil frozen?

I haven't personally tried to buy the new R410A refrigerant, but some of my buddies in the business talk like it isn't restricted like the R22 Freon was. None the less, you probably have a leak in your system that a technician needs to look at. The new systems run at a much higher pressure than the old ones did and so leaks can be more common. If you try to charge yourself you might run into a situation where the incorrect charge can build higher than rated head pressures and destroy part of your system. Leave it up to the guys who know what they are doing!
