Should I be worried about BMW timing chain?
In the last year Watchdog has heard numerous cases of total engine failure in the BMW 1-Series, 3-Series and 5-Series vehicles built between 2007 and 2009. The cause of which have been because the timing chains have snapped causing the engine to come to a complete stand still.

    I have got 318 d 2007. I am worried about timing chain?

Since you are worrying about it, I would call your local BMW dealer and see what they have to say. I'm unfamiliar with this problem on your car, but removing the timing cover is likely a pretty big deal. If you had the cover off, you would want to check the wear and tension on the chain and closely examine any tensioners. If you don't have it inspected, make sure you use full-synthetic engine oil and a filter that meets BMW's specifications for your climate. BMW is very particular about engine oil. I would change the oil and filter at least every 5,000 miles or 6 months, whichever comes first.
