    Crank shaft seal leaks
Briggs & Stratton Vertical Crankshaft V-twin Engine, 16 HP Vanguard. Can I change the crankshaft seal without removing the sump or pan from the engine. Is this a good option?

    Hi,
Yes it is possible to pry the old seal out and insrt and seat a new one. Usually done with the engine upside down, cranshaft cleaned at the inner boss that touches the seal and special driver used. Both inner and outer circumferences of the seal should be lightly oiled prior to intallation.
    Peace,
    Clarke
